Access, diversity and perfect weather… What more could you ask for?

Los Angeles Tourism has been a big supporter of ITB China since the beginning. We asked Kate Chang, Regional Director, China why her organisation is so bullish on this show.

ITB Berlin has long been one of the most recognised and renowned B2B events in the travel industry. Globally, Los Angeles Tourism has been a great supporter of ITB Berlin, ITB Asia as well as the now three years old ITB China. We value the quality buyers that ITB attracts, and this event’s particular China focus also aligns with our business strategy.

Please tell us a little more about some of the partners you have brought along this year.

There’s been an overwhelming response from our local partners to join us on this trip to China. We are honoured to have a group of 7 partners that are both China ready and China- focused, to curate the best of LA’s travel experiences. From signature accommodations such as the Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel and LEVEL Furnished Living in downtown LA, to world-class movie magic and family fun at Warner Bros. Studios Tours Hollywood and Universal Studios Hollywood. From outlet and high-end shopping represented by Citadel Outlets and Beverly Center, to the creative and progressive neighbourhood that is West Hollywood. We hope to showcase a complete and quintessential LA lifestyle to our trade partners in China.

What are the three key “differentiators” for LA as a destination for Chinese travellers?

We’re proud to say that there are many unique features that sets LA apart as a travel destination. Access, Diversity and Perfect Weather would probably be the first 3 to best describe LA. With now over 100 direct flights a week from 14 cities in mainland China to LAX, Los Angeles is easily the largest and most easily accessible gateway into the US. There are over 200 languages spoken by Angeles and just as many cuisines that await our guests, from sporting events and entertainment extravaganzas Los Angeles has something for everyone to explore and enjoy. Whether you fancy a stroll by the beach or a hike in the valley, over 300 days of sunshine and year-round perfect temperature also offers endless options.
